DPP, Refugee Consortium of Kenya, (RCK) engage on Strategic Partnership

The Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), Mr. Renson M. Ingonga, OGW, CBS, today hosted a delegation from the Refugee Consortium of Kenya (RCK), led by their Executive Director, Mr. Barlet Jaji.

They deliberated on, among other matters, the need to formalize collaboration between the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and RCK through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that will provide a framework for joint training initiatives and community outreach activities involving officers from both institutions.

The DPP reaffirmed the ODPP’s commitment to this partnership, noting that the Prosecution Training Institute (PTI) is well-equipped to support capacity-building efforts.

Further, the DPP emphasized his Office’s dedication to ensuring access to justice for refugees through the criminal justice system, and encouraged RCK to familiarize with key ODPP policies, including the Decision to Charge Guidelines and Plea-Bargaining Framework.

He also stressed the need for RCK to continue advocating for the rights and welfare of refugees, while remaining mindful of national security considerations.

In turn, the RCK delegation expressed appreciation for the continued support from the ODPP, particularly in facilitating legal aid for refugees appearing in court.
