DPP Reaffirms His Commitment to Combating Transnational Crime

The Director of Public Prosecutions Renson Ingonga, CBS, OGW, has reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening mutual legal assistance and interagency collaboration in the fight against transnational organized crime. The DPP spoke today when he hosted the High Commissioner of India to Kenya, H.E. Dr. Adarsh Swaika, who paid him a courtesy call at his office.

The meeting focused on enhancing cooperation between Kenya and India by exchanging views on matters of mutual interest and exploring opportunities to deepen the long-standing bilateral relationship between the two countries. Speaking during the meeting, the DPP emphasized the importance of international partnerships in addressing increasingly sophisticated cross-border crimes.

“The fight against transnational organized crime requires strong international partnerships, effective mutual legal assistance, and seamless interagency cooperation. The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions remains committed to working closely with our counterparts to strengthen the rule of law and ensure that criminals do not exploit international borders to evade justice,” said the DPP. The discussions also underscored the need to enhance the capacity of prosecutors through specialized training on complex and emerging forms of organized crime. Both sides explored opportunities for advanced training programmes and prosecutor exchange initiatives between Kenya and India to promote knowledge sharing and the exchange of best practices.

H.E. Dr. Adarsh Swaika reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with Kenya in the justice sector. “India values its strong and enduring partnership with Kenya. We are committed to deepening our collaboration in legal and prosecutorial matters through capacity building, skills development, and the exchange of expertise to effectively address emerging transnational crime challenges,” said Dr. Swaika.
